On April 21st, 2012 we hosted our 1st Annual 5K called bFIT4Lifers Run 4U. I can say I was grateful for the 19 participants that did register and the 18 that ran. The Wednesday, the week of our race the forecast was calling for rain so I started praying. We had been promoting this event since January and the week prior to the event we didn’t have alot of participants registered. Only 2 walkers and 5 runners to be exact. I prayed for great running weather, and I thank the Lord it turned out to be awesome. The weather made all the difference on race day for walk-ins. The rain came later that evening.
Here is my Tweet the morning of our race.
I was grateful for the extra hands that I did have from my Parents, son Chris, Nancy, Ray and Johnathan. You are all awesome and I love you. You made this event a great success.
As we started for the Start-line we had some stragglers from registration that had to run .25 mile to the start-line so that they didn’t miss the start.
I had to be part of the start-line. I wanted to run so bad, but there was so much behind the scene things that needed to go smoothly I will be sure to run next year. I was so glad that my cousin came out to support. She ran and won for our age group. Woot Woot! I need to work on that finish time for sure. I was glad to see so many marathon runners come out and support.
It was a great 1st 5k hosted event. The runners were friendly and had a great time. They said that they look forward to the next one. They really love the cause that they were supporting.
It is the vision of bFIT4Life Ministries to develop a fitness studio in the city of Camden to overcome the plite of childhood obesity. We will be the first community facility in the city. We feel that this will be a history making event.
I guess you can say that I have caught the 5K bug. There is alot of work and detail into putting an event like this together. It was fun and a great way to expose our ministry. I look forward to next year and the year after.
Our Celebrity guest was. Nicole Michalik , a former contestant from the Biggest Loser Season 4.
